Taupe, Greige and Mushroom: Warm Neutral Quartz, Quartzite and Dolomite Countertops In Stock for 2027 Kitchens

By Kris Lamberth, Stone Specialist at USA Granite

The palette in new kitchens is shifting. Stark white and cool gray are giving way to sand, taupe, mushroom and beige: colors that feel softer, cozier and a lot more forgiving in a home where people actually live. Designers are also leaning toward natural stone this year, with quartzite at the top of many 2026 picks.

If you're planning a kitchen for 2027 and want that warm, quiet look, four stones in our SlabSmart program fit the palette. They're in stock at our Dallas slab yard and sold by the square foot. They aren't all the same material, so we've labeled each one: one is quartz, one is quartzite and two are dolomite marbles.

A quick note on "taupe quartz": true taupe is a hard color to find in engineered quartz, and the warm neutrals with the most depth tend to be natural stone. We'll show you both, and tell you which is which.

1. Elaris Quartz

Elaris Quartz.

Elaris has a soft white background with an organic, cloud-like pattern traced in fine taupe and warm-gray veining. It has the gentle, layered look of natural marble with warm undertones that work well with white oak, cream cabinets and gold hardware. It's a good answer if you searched for taupe quartz with white cabinets: you get the taupe in the veining while the background stays light and bright.

It's non-porous, stain resistant and maintenance-free. For more gold-leaning options, see our posts on quartz with gold veins and quartz that looks like marble.

Best for: busy kitchens where you want warm neutral color with no upkeep.

Quartzite: the true greige

2. Madre Perla Quartzite

Madre Perla Quartzite in a styled kitchen.

If you want the real greige-and-mushroom look, start here. Madre Perla features warm beige and soft cream tones with subtle, pearly movement. It looks very similar to Taj Mahal, with a slightly richer glow. As a natural quartzite it's durable and heat resistant, and it has the soft, one-of-a-kind movement that quartz can only imitate.

Best for: large islands and open kitchens where you want a calm, natural backdrop.

Dolomite: rosy tones and soft white

Dolomite is part of the marble family, but it's a little harder than traditional marble. Both of these stones are beautiful, and both need a bit more care than quartzite or quartz: seal them and wipe up acidic spills such as lemon juice, wine and tomato sauce promptly.

3. Fantasy Brown Marble (Rose)

Fantasy Brown (Rose), a dolomite.

This batch of Fantasy Brown stands out with warm, rosy hues layered over soft gray and cream waves. The pink and taupe tones make it softer and more inviting than the cooler-toned Fantasy Brown varieties. It's technically a dolomite rather than a quartzite, which is why we list it here and not with the quartzites. It's a unique stone that still reads as neutral.

Best for: a statement island, a vanity, or a fireplace surround.

4. Bianco Tesoro Dolomite Marble

Bianco Tesoro Dolomite Marble.

Bianco Tesoro is the lightest stone on this list: a soft white background with gentle gray veining, and a clean, timeless marble look with a slightly harder composition than traditional marble. It's honestly more of a soft white than a taupe, but it's the stone to choose when you want your warm neutrals to come from the cabinets, floors and hardware instead of the counter.

Best for: kitchens and baths that call for understated elegance.

Warm neutrals in DFW homes

Warm neutrals suit the way Dallas–Fort Worth homes are being built: white oak and natural wood floors, cream or white painted cabinets, plaster-look walls, and brass or matte black fixtures. In the strong Texas light, taupe and beige tones also look softer than stark white. Before you decide, look at a full slab in your own kitchen's light, because warm stones can shift in color from morning to evening.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a true taupe quartz countertop? Taupe is rare in solid quartz, so most homeowners choose a quartz with taupe veining, like Elaris, or a natural stone like Madre Perla with warm beige tones.

What goes with taupe or greige countertops? White or cream cabinets, white oak, walnut, and brass or black hardware. Taupe veining also works beautifully with white cabinets.

Is Fantasy Brown a quartzite? No. Fantasy Brown is a dolomite, which is part of the marble family. It's a bit harder than traditional marble but should still be sealed and protected from acids.

Are these stones in stock? Yes. All four are in our SlabSmart program, in stock at our Dallas slab yard and sold by the square foot.
