White Granite Countertops: Dallas White vs. River White vs. Meera White (All In Stock)

By Kris Lamberth, Stone Specialist at USA Granite

White granite is one of the most popular choices for Dallas kitchens, and for good reason. It is a natural stone, it handles heat well, and it brings a light, bright feel without the high-maintenance reputation of white marble. If you are searching for names like Colonial White or Alaska White, you are in the right place: those shoppers usually want a light granite with soft movement and small flecks of color, and that is exactly what these three offer.

All three stones below are in stock in our SlabSmart program at our Dallas slab yard. All three are natural granite, and you pay by the square foot.

1. Dallas White Granite: the classic speckled white

Dallas White is a light, creamy white-gray with scattered dark and burgundy flecks. It is the stone page that brings us more phone calls than any other. The pattern is lively but even, so it is forgiving in a busy kitchen: crumbs, water spots and fingerprints are hard to see.

Best for: white or light cabinets, traditional and transitional kitchens, and anyone who wants a classic white granite.

2. River White Granite: movement and flow

River White is the most dramatic of the three. Instead of an all-over speckle, it has soft gray and white bands that flow across the slab like a river, with a few small burgundy flecks scattered through. It gives you some of the movement people love in marble, with the toughness of granite.

It looks especially good against darker cabinets, where the light stone stands out, and as a full backsplash, where the flowing lines can run up the wall.

Best for: islands, backsplashes, and kitchens where you want movement but not a high-contrast pattern.

3. Meera White Granite: the cool, even gray-white

Meera White is the coolest and most consistent of the three, a gray-white with a fine, even speckle. It reads as a soft silver-gray from a distance, which makes it a great match for modern, flat-panel cabinets and stainless appliances.

Photos help, but granite is a natural stone and every slab is different, so we always suggest picking your exact slab in person.

White granite vs. other white countertops

If you love the look of white but want something even lower maintenance, engineered quartz never needs sealing. We compare the two in Quartz vs. Granite, and our guide to Quartz That Looks Like Marble covers the marble-look options. If you want a dramatic natural-stone white, take a look at Quartzite vs. Quartz.

White granite in DFW homes

Granite is a good fit for Texas kitchens. It handles hot pans, and it works outdoors too, so the same stone can carry from your kitchen to your outdoor kitchen. White granite also brightens kitchens that do not get a lot of natural light, and the speckled patterns are forgiving for families with kids. Like all natural stone, granite should be sealed periodically, and we are happy to walk you through it.

Frequently asked questions

Are Dallas White, River White and Meera White really in stock? Yes. All three are part of our SlabSmart program and are in stock at our Dallas slab yard.

Do you carry Colonial White or Alaska White granite? Those are not part of our in-stock SlabSmart program. We can help you source a full slab of a specific name from partner slab yards, or help you pick an in-stock stone with a similar look.

Is white granite hard to maintain? Granite is durable and heat resistant. It should be sealed periodically, and everyday cleaning is simple with mild soap and water.

Is white granite outdoor-safe? Natural granite is a good choice for outdoor kitchens. Engineered quartz is not recommended outdoors because direct sun can fade it.

Which white granite has the most movement? River White, with soft, flowing bands. Dallas White and Meera White have more of an even speckle.
